The engine was designed for Sunbeam by the Italians Vincenso Bertarione and Walter Becchia who were closely involved with Giulio Cappa on the design of the 1922 winning Grand Prix Fiat Tipo 404.

The chassis closely followed the 1922 Sunbeam Grand Prix design of Ernest Henry.

This was the first racing car to use a supercharger in the arrangement subsequently used in “most, successful supercharging practice both of automobiles and aircraft power units” and was contrived by Sunbeam Experimental Department head, Captain J S Irving.

Wheelbase 8′ 6″1/2, track front 51″, track back 47″, height to scuttle 45″, dry weight 1,680lbs.
